What should a person do if they arrive late to the Eid prayer? Whether catching part of the prayer with the imam or arriving during the khutbah, the jurists discussed the proper etiquette and recommended actions for each situation, including how to complete the prayer and whether one should remain to listen to the sermon.

Some of the jurists mention that it is recommended for the person offering the uḍḥiyah to shave their head after the sacrifice has been performed. Imām Aḥmad related this practice from Ibn ʿUmar as a way of honoring and venerating the Day of Eid al-Aḍḥā.

Some of the early Muslims would gather in their local masājid on the evening of ʿArafah for duʿāʾ and dhikr, a practice known as al-taʿrīf. Imām Aḥmad permitted this gathering so long as it remained distinct from the rites of ḥajj and did not involve talbiyah or attachment to specially designated sites outside the sacred lands.
