Appointing Someone to Slaughter the Qurbani

Q: Can I appoint someone to slaughter my Udhiyah?

A: It is preferred that you slaughter your own animal. It is however permitted to assign someone to slaughter an animal on your behalf. If the animal has not been specified beforehand, you should be present. It is preferred that whoever is assigned be a Muslim, as opposed to a Christian or Jew, because this is an act of devotion to be handled by the faithful.
