Completing a Khatmah in Tarawih

Q: Should the Imam aim to conclude an entire recitation of the Quran during tarawih? Can he do more or less?

A: It is recommended that the Tarawih prayer include no less than a complete recitation of the Qur’an, so that people may hear the entire Qur’an during Ramadan. However, the Imam should not exceed one full recitation, to avoid causing hardship to the congregation.

Imam Ahmad stated that the recitation during Ramadan should be suitable for the congregation—neither too lengthy nor burdensome—especially on shorter nights. However, if they wish to perform additional Witr beyond that, it is permissible.
