Brown of Yellowish Discharge After Normal Cycle

Q: After my monthly menstrual cycle concluded, I noticed brownish discharge. Is that considered a part of my cycle?

A: If yellowish (ṣufrah) or brownish (kudrah) discharge appears during the days of menstruation, it is considered part of menstruation (ḥayḍ) and counted during the normal menstrual cycle (‘ādah).

This is the official position of the school.

If a woman experiences ṣufrah or kudrah after the normal time of her menstruation (‘ādah) has ended, even if it occurs repeatedly, it is not considered menstruation according to the stronger opinion of the school and from its unique rulings (mufradāt).

Based on this, she does not need to perform ghusl after experiencing ṣufrah or kudrah post-menstruation and continues to pray and fast.
