Funeral Prayer in Absentia

Q: What is the ruling on praying the funeral prayer for someone who passed away in another country?

A: It is absolutely permissible to pray the funeral prayer for someone specific who has passed away in another region. This can be done for up to a month after they have deceased. This is the case even if they were buried in a region that is not beyond the distance which permits shortening prayer, they are in a direction different from the qiblah, or there has already been a funeral prayer held for them.

The funeral prayer is conducted in the normally prescribed manner.
