Buying a home.

Q: Salaam Shaykh. What is your opinion on buying a home with a mortgage? There is an opinion in the Hanafi fiqh that allows this but I wanted more information on that. Jazakullah Khair.

A: Wa ‘alaykum al-salam. I would advise that you work with family and friends to personally finance the purchase of the house. If that's not possible you should work with a Shari’ah compliant Islamic finance company. There are several viable options available in the USA. Check the AMJA report available online for details.
